Patterns in the 9 times table

  • Each answer is 9 more than the one before: 9, 18, 27, 36, 45 and so on.
  • The last digits run 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0, using every digit once before repeating.
  • Answers take turns being odd and even: odd × odd is odd, odd × even is even.
  • 9 × 9 = 81 is a square number: 9 rows of 9.
  • Learning in order? You already know 9 × 1 to 9 × 8 from the earlier tables (9 × 3 = 3 × 9), so only 4 of the facts up to 9 × 12 are new.
