8 Times Table

The 8 times table lists the multiples of 8: 8, 16, 24 and so on. Here it is up to 8 × 20, with a printable chart and tricks to remember it.

How to remember the 8 times table

  • Double three times: for 8 × 6, double 6 is 12, then 24, then 48.
  • It’s double the 4 times table: 4 × 7 = 28, so 8 × 7 = 56.
  • The last digits repeat 8, 6, 4, 2, 0, counting down in twos.
  • A rhyme for the tricky one: “I ate and I ate till I was sick on the floor: 8 × 8 = 64.”

Patterns in the 8 times table

  • Each answer is 8 more than the one before: 8, 16, 24, 32, 40 and so on.
  • Every answer is even, because an even number times anything is even.
  • 8 × 8 = 64 is a square number: 8 rows of 8.
  • Learning in order? You already know 8 × 1 to 8 × 7 from the earlier tables (8 × 3 = 3 × 8), so only 5 of the facts up to 8 × 12 are new.

Division facts for 8

Every times table fact works backwards too: if 8 × 8 = 64, then 64 ÷ 8 = 8.

  • 8 ÷ 8 = 1
  • 16 ÷ 8 = 2
  • 24 ÷ 8 = 3
  • 32 ÷ 8 = 4
  • 40 ÷ 8 = 5

  • 64 ÷ 8 = 8
  • 72 ÷ 8 = 9
  • 80 ÷ 8 = 10
